Mixologist and Sommelier Joseph Potter introduces you to the Jerez Sour and the SXSW Margarita. Two of our specialty cocktails at Cactus Modern Mexican & Cantina by Venue.
Today we’re going to start off with our Jerez Sour. We smoked some pineapple juice here in house and we add that with some Almeca Altas silver tequila, fresh lime juice, and simple syrup. Shake that off nice and cold and strain that with Pedro Ximenes sherry and garnish with a cherry at the end so you have this nice smoky sweet slightly nutty cocktail. Next we’re going to bring you the North by Northwest Margarita. We boil some dried cranberries with orange juice to make this syrup, which is a cranberry orange syrup. We used that in combination with tequila, lime juice, and simple syrup. After we shake that we top it with Alaska brewery’s cranberry tart to make this nice beer style margarita for you.
